Newark Speaks

One of America’s Most Famous Citizens once said:
.

“Liberty is meaningless where the right to utter one’s thoughts and opinions has ceased to exist. That, of all rights, is the dread of tyrants. It is the right which they first of all strike down. They know its power. Thrones, dominions, principalities, and powers, founded in injustice and wrong, are sure to tremble, if men are allowed to reason…There can be no right of speech where any man is compelled to suppress his honest sentiments. Equally clear is the right to hear. To suppress free speech is a double wrong. It violates the rights of the hearer as well as those of the speaker.”

Newark Speaks.com was created to give the citizens of Newark and those who care about the city a voice for open discussion and debate regarding all the issues that concern and affect us. The creators of NewarkSpeaks.com forums believe in the tenets of Free Speech and will uphold that right for all participants of this forum without overt and unnecessary censorship. Speak your mind.

Open and Free discussions are healthy and necessary for Newark’s progress as a community. Speaking your mind and sharing your views lets the world know how you feel and allows others to agree, disagree, support you, debate you, join you, or educate you regarding those views. Newark’s Renaissance needs such discourse for healthy and progressive growth.

We also intend for Newark Speaks.com to be a podium for Newark’s citizen’s to speak to their elected representative as well as for our elected representatives to speak to us. An open line of communication on-line.

C.U.R.E.

We state that the U.S. Government is obligated to provide financial and other support for citizenship choices of the descendants of enslaved Africans, whether they choose full and equal U.S. citizenship, semi-autonomous or autonomous self-government, dual citizenship or migration/repatriation. We call upon the families of the white American aristocracy that directly benefited from slavery to voluntarily pay their fair share of the reparations debt with wealth gained from slavery, the slave trade, and slavery related enterprises.

C.O.R.E

C O R E is the acronym for the Congress Of Racial Equality.

Founded in 1942, CORE is the third oldest and one of the “Big Four” civil rights groups in the United States. From the protests against “Jim Crow” laws of the 40′s through the “Sit-ins” of the 50′s, the “Freedom Rides” of the 60′s, the cries for “Self-Determination” in the 70′s, “Equal Opportunity” in the 80′s, community development in the 90′s, to the current demand for equal access to information, CORE has championed true equality. As the “shock troops” and pioneers of the civil rights movement, CORE has paved the way for the nation to follow.

N’COBRA

The Reparations Campaign, for Black people in the United States, emerged more than one hundred years ago as the U.S. Federal Government was trying to survive the ravages of warfare among it’s citizen. In the wake of the bitter hostilities from the Civil War a decision was made to release from bondage millions of then enslaved Africans.

As U.S. political, civil and business leaders grappled with the pressing question of “what to do with the Negroes?” the newly freed Africans cried out immediately for restitution – payback for centuries of stolen labor, cultural degradation and dehumanizations. Indeed, Africans held as slaves have been struggling for a restored sense of wholeness since being brought to this country as chattel.

Other organizations and individuals have carried the demand for reparations farther into the twentieth century. Many of them have become a part of today’s Reparations Campaign which is being spearheaded by N’COBRA.

Carol’s Daughter

About Carol’s Daughter

WE ARE GENUINELY NATURAL

Natural inspires everything that we do here at Carol’s Daughter – it defines our company culture, it defines our relationships with our consumers, and importantly it defines our approach to manufacturing our products for your use. All of our products contain natural ingredients specially formulated to bring out your natural beauty, but sometimes there are limitations to create products that contain only natural ingredients – which if you’ve been a long time customer, you let us know that product separation was a major problem and we in turn spared no expense to rectify this issue.

As a result, some of our products contain stabilizing ingredients, which will proudly list on the back of every product label. Our goal is to ensure that your experiences with our products and brand meet your exacting standards: highest-quality hair care, highest-quality skincare and highest-quality body care all while providing you the absolute best experience with our products over time. It is with profound respect for you, our consumer that we aspire to ensure ours is a brand that you love and we will continue to ensure that you will receive the absolute best from Carol’s Daughter – truthfully and lovingly by remaining Genuinely Natural.

—Carol’s Daughter

I n the early 1990’s, Brooklyn native Lisa Price (a.k.a. Carol’s daughter) began experimenting with fragrance, essential oils and natural moisturizers to make gifts for her family and friends. Soon after she packaged her home-spun creations, word spread like wildfire and the demand for her unparalleled hair and body care products led to a highly successful mail-order and web-based business. Within a few years, Carol’s Daughter counted celebrities like Jada Pinkett Smith, Mary J. Blige, Erykah Badu, Brad Pitt and Chaka Khan as loyal fans, or as she refers to them, “friends of the family.”

Nature, family and love are words that resonate for Carol’s Daughter and as business expands, Lisa makes sure that detailed care and attention is given to each product. Within every Carol’s Daughter product, whether it’s the Ecstasy Shea Soufflé or the Almond Cookie Sea Salt Body Scrub, the uniqueness of the name is an association with the familiar manner in which the products were born.

In 1999, Carol’s Daughter opened its first boutique in the cozy confines of Brooklyn’s Fort Greene neighborhood. The store’s success lead to appearances of Carol’s Daughter products on top national television shows, including The Today Show, The View and The Oprah Winfrey Show. This type of mega-watt attention has encouraged the brand to make Carol’s Daughter a household name – in 2005, Carol’s Daughter introduced new product packaging, an updated website: www.carolsdaughter.com, announced exciting celebrity investors and a highly anticipated Harlem flagship store in New York City .

Even after approximately 15 years of success and expansion, Carol’s Daughter products are still made with love. Each product is still made by hand…just now with a lot more hands. And just as before, the products still carry delectable, fun, and appealing names such as the marquee products: Almond Cookie Shea Soufflé, Tui (pronounced “twee”) Hair Oil, Hair Milk and Jamaican Punch Sea Salt Body Scrub–with a treasure trove of family secrets ready to be experienced.

Aromafloria History

Aromafloria began in 1985, founded on the rich heritage of aromatherapy as a means of achieving wellness. Ancient cultures placed great emphasis on the healing properties of aromatic oils. As one of the modern pioneers of holistic aromatherapy, we continue to embrace and evolve this ancient art. This “complementary and alternative” therapy has been a way of life for Aromafloria, not just a lifestyle trend.
